Courses offered by Abacus Care (Cheshire) Limited
We continually look for ways to improve the services that we provide to staff and clients. With this in mind we hold training days and other events regularly throughout the year. Training material is produced either by experienced Abacus Care Cheshire staff or by our training partners.

Some examples of the courses we offer to our own staff and also to external organisations are shown below and in our new training booklet. We will also provide a number of e-learning resources soon.
Initial Training Courses
These are short courses which are aimed mainly at new employees, including:
First aid
Infection control
Moving and handling
Fire awareness
Health and safety
Data Protection

Specialist Courses
External organisations can book onto all our courses, including specialist courses such as:
Emergency first aid at work (HSE approved)
First aid at work (HSE approved)

Food Hygiene Certificate in Catering (CIEH 1/2)

Funded Courses
Cheshire LRN have provided funding for several courses, including:
Autistic syndrome disorder awareness
Non-violent crisis intervention
Dementia awareness
Dementia care
Food handling
Safe handling of medicines
PTLLS
These courses are available to eligible staff.

Professional Development Courses
We have partnered with a number of educational establishments to provide further training:
West Cheshire College and Macclesfield College provide NVQ 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and the theory component of our Health and Social Care Apprenticeships. They also provide the A1 Assessors Award.
Blackburn College provides the NVQ 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services course.
Mid-Cheshire College provides the PTLLS course.
These courses are available to eligible staff.
